Form Retail is a cohesive and highly-experienced team who focus their time and energy exclusively on retail real estate. Our company principals and associates each bring complementary skills and experience gained working at larger global brokerage houses, boutique brokerage and development companies. Our exclusive focus in the retail sector has translated into the successful lease-up and sale of millions of square feet of retail product, while our industry knowledge and expertise has guided leading local and national retailers towards achieving their expansion objectives. Our integrative approach with our clients allows us to be agile in our execution and adapt to a changing retail environment.

David is a co-founder of Form and has been an active commercial real estate broker for over sixteen years. David’s entire career has been focused on commercial property, working in a number of different disciplines including tenant representation, land and income producing investment sales and development leasing. David has acted on behalf of a number of Canada’s most significant and sophisticated landlords and tenants across Western Canada. His experience in working with a broad range of tenants, landlords and investors allows him to provide his clients with a very unique view of transactions across a significant geographical area.

Over the past 11 years, David has worked closely with Shoppers Drug Mart, assisting in their real estate growth strategy throughout Western Canada. As part of this growth, David has participated in excess of 120 lease and sale transactions with Shoppers Drug Mart totaling more than 1,640,000 square feet of space. In addition, David also acts on behalf of Canadian Tire and their subsidiaries throughout Western Canada, securing new locations through both purchasing and leasing of property, as well as the disposition of their redundant properties. In all, David has been involved in the leasing of over 4,000,000 square feet and the selling of over $500,000,000.00 worth of property in his career.

Derick’s multi-market knowledge, competitive drive and relationship-building skills have made him a recognized and respected leader in the retail real estate industry.

With a specialization in mixed-use projects, ground-up development and the repositioning of existing assets, Derick has been active in many of the market’s largest developments over the last 13 years. Some of his most notable projects include: River District, Grandview Central, Brewery District, Langley City Square, Eagle Landing, Dell Shopping Centre, Thunderbird Village and University Village.

Derick’s clients know him as someone who finds creative solutions in the face of tough challenges. He’s recognized for his proactive approach to marketing properties, his understanding of the development process and ability to bring together both side of a transaction.

Derick was named Associate Vice President at Colliers International at the age of 28, and went on to co-found Form in 2010, at 29. He earned his B.Comm (Honours), with a double major in Entrepreneurship and Accounting from the University of Manitoba. In addition to receiving multiple sales awards throughout his career, Derick was a co-recipient of the NAIOP developing leader award in 2014. He speaks regularly at industry events, including NAIOP, Vancouver Real Estate Forum, Vancouver Leasing Forum, Buildex and CREW.

Jon focuses exclusively on retail investment sales and in doing so, has developed into one of the most active investment brokers for retail related assets in British Columbia. With over 10 years in commercial real estate, Jon has garnered an intimate knowledge of the retail landscape for core, secondary, and tertiary markets throughout BC, allowing him to work extensively with groups at both the private and institutional levels.

Jon entered the industry as a financial analyst for a leading investment properties group, successfully underwriting more than $2.5 billion in total transaction volume during his first two years in the industry. This experience laid the foundation for a successful transition into brokerage.

Since transitioning into brokerage in 2007, Jon has brokered a multitude of investment transactions, including enclosed shopping centres, anchored strip malls and plazas, street-front retail properties, mixed-use development sites, single tenant assets and hotels.

Prior to co-founding Form Retail Advisors, Jon worked at a multinational commercial brokerage firm on a national investment team.

Jon earned his Bachelor of Administrative and Commercial Studies at the University of Western Ontario, majoring in Finance and Administration.

Jack joined Form Retail Advisors in 2010 as an Associate and has quickly established himself as a strong negotiator with excellent communication skills.

Jack specializes in project leasing, tenant representation and investment and is an integral part of Form Retail Advisors’ team. Jack has worked with numerous Landlords including PCI, Wesgroup, Cressey, Onni, Property Development Group, Staburn, PC Urban, and Narland and has leased notable projects including The Hub at King George Station (350,000 SF), Eagle Landing (350,000 SF), Brewery District (105,000 SF), and Cityview Shopping Centre (75,000 SF).

Jack majored in entrepreneurship and graduated with distinction from the Commerce program at the University of Victoria’s School of Business. As an avid hockey and soccer player, Jack understands the competitive element and is thus able to bring a similar mindset to his professional work.

Prior to joining Form, Jack held a position at an international brokerage firm where he gained invaluable market knowledge through working closely with some of the top performing brokerage teams.

Curtis has been actively involved in commercial real estate for over 5 years.  Since joining Form Retail Advisors, Curtis has been focused on representing both buyers and sellers of income producing retail assets and commercial land throughout BC, transacting in excess of $100 Million in sales in the last two years alone.  In his tenure as a broker, Curtis has had the opportunity to work with a wide spectrum of clientele in most markets throughout BC.

A specific product type of recent focus for Curtis has been representing buyers and sellers in the purchase and sale of strong covenant free standing buildings.  Over the past two years he has successfully transacted over a dozen single tenant properties including freestanding bank branches, large format pharmacies and national restaurants in various regions/markets including the Interior, Lower Mainland, Northern BC, Alberta and Vancouver Island.

Prior to joining Form Retail Advisors, Curtis gained valuable industry experience in lease negotiations and financial analysis as Development Manager for Terracon Development in Winnipeg, MB.

Curtis has a strong background in financial analysis and is currently a level II candidate pursuing the CFA accreditation. Prior to working with Terracon, Curtis graduated on the Dean’s list from the University of Manitoba’s Asper School of Business, double majoring in finance and entrepreneurship.

Joe joined Form Retail Advisors in 2014 after spending four years specializing in retail real estate at a multinational brokerage, based in Vancouver. He began his career in 2010, initially as a research analyst, responsible for compiling historical, current and forecasted market information for comparable sale and lease transactions, retail consumer sales, shopping centre lease & vacancy rates, new retail projects and active retailers in British Columbia.

Upon his transition into brokerage, Joe maintained a focus on retail assets and quickly established himself within the industry as a young leader, ultimately being recognized for his efforts by receiving the 2013 Rookie of the Year Award at his previous brokerage.

Joe specializes in the sale of income producing assets and development land, and in the selection of sites for select owner/users and tenants. He also acts on behalf of McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada for its real estate requirements throughout British Columbia. In his capacity at Form Retail, Joe continues to focus his efforts throughout British Columbia, while also helping to expand Form Retail’s presence in Alberta.

Michael Heck joined Form Retail Advisors in 2012 as an Associate Broker with a focus on Leasing and Sales of retail properties throughout B.C. During his time with Form Retail, Michael has successfully contributed to the lease up of numerous projects of varying size and scale such as the Delta Shoppers Mall in Delta and Walnut Gate Shopping Centre in Langley.

Michael is a graduate of the University of Guelph, Ontario, where he gained a distinguished Bachelor of Commerce. Prior to joining Form Retail Michael held a position with Xerox Canada, gaining invaluable negotiation, sales and interpersonal skills.

Jordan joined Form Retail Advisors in 2013 as an Analyst while completing his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business, where he specialized in the Real Estate program.

Since his transition to an Associate in 2014, Jordan has worked with numerous landlords and developers including Choice Properties REIT, PC Urban, MOSAIC Homes, Wesgroup, PCI, Bosa Properties, Cressey, SmartCentres and Headwater Projects with an emphasis on landlord representation, new project leasing, market and demographic analysis, and lease negotiation. Notable projects include Grandview Central (250,000 SF), Washington Park Shopping Centre (168,299 SF), and 1301 Lougheed Highway (167,709 SF).

Jordan has also assisted tenants and investors in fulfilling their real estate objectives, contributing to their success through site selection, leasing strategy and retail-asset acquisition.

Prior to joining Form Retail Advisors, Jordan owned and operated his own business for three years. During this time, he gained vital experience in sales and marketing, while learning the importance of cultivating strong client relationships.

Danny joined Form in March 2017 as an Associate Broker with a focus on Leasing and Investment sales. Danny holds a designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant, having spent 8 years in the field of Audit and Financial Reporting. His experience is split working between one of the Big Four Accounting Firms in Canada and as Group Controller of a mid-size multinational greenhouse operation based out of Delta, BC. His background has provided him with valuable skills in financial planning and analysis, business process improvement, and client relations.

Danny approaches situations with critical analysis and seeks out creative solutions to tough challenges presented.

Luan joined our team in 2013 and is responsible for leading business operations at Form Retail Advisors. With a management background and diverse skill set acquired through various capacities in commercial real estate, Luan is an integral part in the execution and implementation of the company’s overall business strategy. Luan is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, identifying areas of improvement for operational efficiency as well as implementing new directives for growth.

Working closely with Jon Buckley on the investment team, Luan is also responsible for overseeing and assisting in investment transactions from inception to closing. Luan assists in multiple aspects of a client’s real estate interests and helps to develop business opportunities and maintain client relationships.

Luan entered the real estate industry in 2009. Prior to joining Form Retail Advisors, Luan worked as a Business Analyst at a full service commercial real estate firm in Winnipeg, MB. Luan graduated with a Bachelor’s of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Manitoba’s Asper School of Business. Luan is a member of ICSC and the planning committee for Vancouver NextGen ICSC, and is a mentor with Dress for Success Vancouver.

Cheryl joined our team in November 2015 and has quickly become a key component in ensuring the office operates in a fluid and well-organized manner. Working closely with the Director of Operations, she helps execute marketing material, market research, and administrative support to the team where required.

Prior to joining Form, Cheryl gained valuable experience working in industries including development, retail, and the public-sector. Cheryl graduated in 2015 from Simon Fraser University majoring in Geography and Urban Studies. Outside of work hours, she enjoys paddling competitively on her dragon boat team ‘Dreadnought’. Her combination of education, work, and team experience has left her with a keen ability to work with a diverse group of business associates among various organizations.

Gaelen joined our team in January 2015 with over 7 years of experience in all facets of real estate. She currently works as a Project Analyst providing lease administration, marketing, and real estate analysis.

Prior to joining Form Retail Advisors, Gaelen worked for a local developer in the area of finance and accounting, but her breadth of experience has given her knowledge in all areas ranging from lease administration to marketing to development. A Vancouver local, Gaelen grew up in East Vancouver and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University.
